Asks Lincoln to act on a petition for the release of her son William Martin, a prisoner of war at Camp Chase, Ohio. Mounted on the bottom of the page are a clipped ANS by John Hay, 12 April, requesting that the petition be sent to Lincoln, and a clipped ANS by Lincoln, 13 April, directing that the prisoner be released on taking the loyalty oath of 8 December 1863.

Abraham Lincoln (born February 12, 1809, Sinking Spring Farm near Hodgenville, Kentucky-died April 15, 1865, Washington, D.C.) was the sixteenth President of the United States from 1861 until his death by assassination.
